En talsmann for IDF (Israel Defence Force) sier i kveld at Hamas står bak rakettangrepene fra Libanon. Angrepene ville neppe ha funnet sted uten godkjennelse fra Hizbollah. Det er ventet at Israel vil respondere militært på angrepene og en talsmann for USA sier at de anerkjenner Israels rett til selvforsvar. Siden Israel nå sier at de tror Hamas står bak, vil Israel kunne komme til å respondere militært både mot mål i Libanon og mål på Gazastripen. Flere har antydet at Israel vil komme til å skylde på Hamas fremfor Hizbollah da en krig med Hizbollah vil være en større utfordring for IDF enn det Gaza vil være.
