Det pågående russiske angrepet på Ukraina har skapt sterke reaksjoner i Europa og USA. Natos styrker i Europa er i høy beredskap og overvåker situasjonen kontinuerlig. 
Vestlige land vil etter nattens angrep på Ukraina vedta knallharde økonomiske sanksjoner mot Russland. Putin på sin side har advart andre land mot å involvere seg i krigen og ser ut til å blåse en lang marsj av trusler om sanksjoner og isfront fra Vesten.
